FAQ's

How often will I receive a produce box?

Produce boxes are provided on a bi-weekly cycle. Season programs can last anywhere from 8 to 16 weeks depending on the season and holidays. Each seasonal program will receive a specific number of boxes coordinated to the week count. (Ex: During an 8 week cycle, you can expect to receive 4 boxes.)

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription or skip that week's box anytime by using the "Manage subscription" link in your order confirmation email or by logging in with the same email you entered at checkout and navigating to the "manage subscription" option in the menu shown.

How do I get my produce box?

All produce boxes are pickup only. Pickup details are listed on the about page, the homepage and in each product description. You will also receive a reminder email the week of pickup with pickup time, day and location information.

How often will I be charged for my boxes?

When ordering your produce box you have the option to make a one time purchase. You will be charged an immediate, one time payment and receive your box the following week during regular pickup hours. Alternatively you can also subscribe and save. Subscribing enrolls you in the full box program from the date that you sign up. You will be charged immediately for the first box and then be charged every two weeks for the remainder of the program until the season is over. You can cancel your subscription or skip a week at any time during your enrollment.

What happens when the seasonal enrollment ends?

When the season ends, all subscriptions will be suspended. You will receive an email notifying you of the next round of seasonal boxes and the respective dates. Alternatively you can check back on the website frequently for updates. All participants must resubscribe each season if they wish to continue receiving boxes.

Where does the produce come from?

Greater Newark Conservancy partners with Urban Agriculture Cooperative (UAC) to fulfill all box orders. Our produce selections is a combination of Newark based growers, including hydroponic produce from the Conservancy's own greenhouse, and the farmers in UAC's expansive grower network. All produce is local and hyperlocal to the NJ and Newark areas. You can expect produce from different local growers in Newark as well as from other small farms all over New Jersey.

Do I get to choose the produce in my box?/Will I know what's in the box?

CSA programs are strictly farmer's choice and our produce boxes are no exception. This means that all boxes will have a range of curated produce items that are selected by the farmers. That's the fun of it all! Boxes typically have a few staple items that are typical items used in most households. More dynamic produce selections encourage usage of new items. Every box comes with a "what's in the box"/recipe card that inspires ideas about how to use the range of produce selected. We are working to continually improve participant's involvement in the produce selection by offering add on options when possible.

What do I put in the "company" field at checkout if I'm an Individual?

For anyone not signing up through their organization, simply put "N/A" in the 'Company' field when prompted. This field is used to distinguish between those signing up through an organizational collaboration and is not necessary for all participants.
